History

Synchrosound Studio Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of Media Prima owns the radio. It now broadcasts 24 hours a day from Sri Pentas in Bandar Utama, Selangor. Started test transmissions on January 15, 2006, and officially started full time broadcasting on February 6, 2006.

Datin Seri Tiara Jacquelina launched the station, which was formerly known as WOW FM, in 1994. WOW FM was purchased by Media Prima in 2005 and rebranded as Hot FM. The new name reflects the station’s target demographic of young adults. Then instantly became one of Malaysia’s most popular radio stations. Soon with 3.8 million weekly listeners, it became the most-listened-to radio station in the country in 2009. A variety of factors contribute to the station’s success, including its lively and engaging programming, popular DJs, and commitment to social responsibility.

In 2019, Hot FM was awarded the “Best Radio Station” at the Anugerah Industri Muzik (AIM) awards. The station has also won numerous other awards, including the “Best Radio Station” award at the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Awards (MCM) in 2017 and 2018.
