History
It began transmitting radio in 1988, largely to cater to the listening preferences of Johor’s then-Sultan Almarhum Sultan Iskandar. It was named Best104 back then. Best104 began airing in Johor Bahru and eventually relocated to Kuala Lumpur. Best FM used to broadcast in English as well as Malay. It was one of Malaysia’s and Singapore’s most popular multilingual radio stations. However, in order to compete with other radio stations at the time, it opted to focus on Malay-speaking listeners. The radio station began its first 24-hour full-time broadcast in 1996, when it expanded its broadcast radius outside Johor state. Best FM rebranded from Best 104 to Best FM.
